A LITTLE ABOUT CHELTENHAM VOLUNTEER CENTRE

First established in 1982 we are a registered charity which works with individuals, groups and organisations to support and develop voluntary action in our community. We are a key provider of infrastructure support services to the Voluntary & Community Sector.

Cheltenham Volunteer Centre seeks:

  • To provide information, advice, guidance and support services to the Voluntary & Community Sector in Cheltenham and surrounding districts

  • To facilitate the representation of the views and concerns of local community and voluntary organisations to statutory and commercial organisations

  • To facilitate and promote liaison, co-operation and communication within the voluntary sector

  • To facilitate the recruitment and placement of volunteers

  • To assist in the development of new community and voluntary groups which are aiming to respond to unmet community needs

  • To provide training, conferences and seminars on subjects relevant to the voluntary sector

  • To identify needs in the voluntary sector and establishing projects or policies to address them

Our specialist services include:

  • Cheltenham Volunteer Centre (CVC) recruits and places potential volunteers as well as providing information, advice and guidance to voluntary and community groups that use volunteers. CVC has a wealth of experience in the management of volunteers and is the county centre of expertise on Supported Volunteering (for volunteers with physical, mental or learning difficulties, ex-offenders, and for those in recovery from drug or alcohol problems.)

  • Cheltenham Community Transport (CCT) aims to help combat social isolation and increase the quality of life for elderly, frail and disabled people by providing an accessible means of transport.

Organisations can receive help and advice on good practice, policies and procedures as well as access training and assistance with organisational development issues.
